Hawks Outlast Pelicans, 130-120
The Atlanta Hawks defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, 130-120, at Smoothie King Center on Tuesday evening.

The Hawks (27-48) have been coming on during the latter stages of the campaign, and their high-powered offense has been key. Such was the case again Tuesday, with Atlanta racking up 42 first-quarter points and compiling 70 by intermission. While they didn't quite keep up the same pace the rest of the way, the visitors scored the final four points after the Pelicans (31-45) had closed to 126-120 with 39.6 seconds remaining. Ball security especially a problem for New Orleans, as they committed 24 turnovers.

Trae Young paced the Hawks with a 33-point, 12-assist double-double that also included one rebound and one steal. Dewayne Dedmon and DeAndre' Bembry generated matching 18-point efforts while hauling in nine and six rebounds, respectively. Alex Len turned in 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. John Collins and Vince Carter contributed 12 points apiece, with Collins also posting seven boards. Taurean Prince finished with nine points, five assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block.

Julius Randle led the Pelicans with 24 points and added nine rebounds, five assists and one steal. Christian Wood supplied 23 points, nine rebounds, one assist, six blocks and three steals. Frank Jackson posted 20 points, two rebounds and one steal before exiting with a concussion. Ian Clark managed 12 points, while Elfrid Payton collected 11 points, nine assists, six rebounds and two steals.

The Hawks return home and face the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, while the Pelicans remain home and tangle with the Sacramento Kings on Thursday evening as well.
