Past Fantasy Outlooks
Bajel has spent most of the past two seasons playing in Switzerland and the AHL. He has appeared in 18 NHL games in his career, notching one goal and five assists. Recovering from a major knee injury, it's unlikely that he will factor into the Canucks' plans for the 2008-09 season.
With Balej playing overseas in 2006-07, his forecast for fantasy purposes seems pretty slim. Keeper league owners needing roster space should look to cut ties with him.
Acquired in 2003 from Montreal, Balej is the type of player New York can get excited about; he can light up the rink with his super speed and puck handling skills, as well as finishing off his scoring chances when at top speed; words cannot describe how explosive this player can be. The Rangers have intentionally steered away from signing any big ticketed free-agents thus far, just to give high-ceiling prospects such as Balej significant playing time on the NHL level. From the looks of things, Balej is expected to make an immediate impact on the second-line, or possibly log some ice time with Jaromir Jagr on his unit. In 69 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL last season, Balej registered 20 goals, 22 assists and 46 PIMs.
