Brennan has one skill and one skill only, and that skill comes with his fists. Unfortunately, the Oilers already have a few players that can both play a little hockey and aren't afraid to drop the gloves. As a result, Brennan is highly unlikely to make an impact at the NHL level.
Brennan hasn't played in the NHL since the 2007-08 season and although the Oilers may be a little light on toughness, Brennan is highly unlikely to be the player that will fill that role.
Brennan had zero goals in 53 games for Springfield of the AHL last season but also had 263 PIMs, guess where his value lies? Brennan should once again begin the season in Springfield but could be called up if and when the Oilers feel they need to add some toughness to their lineup.
Brennan was a depth signing for the Isles. He has seen action in just 58 NHL games over the course of four seasons (none in 2006-07).
Like Travis Moen, Brennan will only be a fantasy factor if your league awards points for PIMs -- where Brennan has racked up 175 in just 46 career NHL games. With that said, Brennan may have trouble making the squad, and if he does, will probably be buried on the fourth line. Simply put: steer clear.
