Catches on with Dinos
Dermody confirmed Sunday that he will be granted his release from Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs to sign with the Dinos, Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Dermody had been linked to the Dinos for the past several days, but both player and team have presumably now come to terms on a deal. He'll be joining the Dinos as a foreign replacement for Wes Parsons, who was recently cut loose after having not pitched for the club since May 14 due to a back injury. Dermody will likely need at least a week to finalize his contract, arrive in Korea and get acclimated with his new surroundings, so he may not make his debut for the Dinos until late August. While spending much of the 2022 campaign at the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in Iowa, Dermody posted a 3.74 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 70:18 K:BB in 79.1 innings.
