Makengo made just seven starts (19) appearances in the Bundesliga.

Makengo failed to really take a step forward and earn a larger role in the Freiburg back line. The defender is a solid depth option in the backline, but isn't a consistent part of the starting XI and offered little in his few chances to contribute. He will likely remain limited in the coming campaign.
