Mbamba joined Lorient on a season long loan from Bayer Leverkusen, the club announced.

Mbamba signed his first professional contract with Club Brugge at just 16 and went on to win two Belgian titles with the club before moving to Leverkusen, where he won the Bundesliga under coach Xabi Alonso.
