Konrad, who signed with the team as a free agent after being released by the Dolphins this offseason, has decided to retire, the Contra Costa Times reports.
ANALYSIS
"His heart's just not in it anymore," said Drew Rosenhaus, Konrad's agent. "I tried to talk him out of it but this is what he wants to do. He has lost his love, his passion for the game." Sound familiar? Konrad used to be teammates with former Dolphins running back Ricky Williams, and this surprise announcement could draw comparisons. This is a blow for the Raiders, who were expected to move Zack Crockett to tailback because of Konrad's offseason signing. Konrad, who did not participate in Oakland's recent minicamp, has yet to file the necessary retirement paperwork with the league, but Rosenhaus indicated that it would be done this week.

2003 Fantasy Outlook
Konrad is an above average receiver out of the backfield but is very rarely called upon to carry the offense. His job is to block for Ricky Williams, a job which carries great weight, but minimal fantasy value. He is not a goal line FB either, since the man behind him is quite reliable. We expect in the neighborhood of 35 receptions on the season with one or two touchdowns. He will carry the ball under 10 times the entire year. He is only of value in the deepest of leagues.
