Digs deep to earn contract
Oban defeated Kaik Brito vis majority decision (29-28,29-28, 28-28) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of three fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Elliot showcased some sophisticated wrestling and a nice jab early on, but it wasn't long before the all-out pressure and wild striking of Brito took their toll, which had the Welsh fighter nearly out on his feet late in Round 2. Remarkably, "Evil" came back just as hard in the third frame, putting on a dominant display that may have warranted a 10-8 scorecard of its own. Elliot's gas tank issues are a bit worrying, as they may be a sign that he is setting a pace he cannot keep. Still, the 25-year-old will be able to provide action fights at the very least, with an opportunity to accomplish more if he can refine his skill set.
