Still searching for first UFC win
Woodburn lost to Oban Elliott via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 298 on Saturday in Anaheim.
ANALYSIS
Woodburn was predictably destroyed by Bo Nickal in 38 seconds in his UFC debut last July. He got another chance here against a debuting Elliott at 170 pounds, and it didn't go well. Val had a chance to win this fight after flooring Oban with a huge flurry early in Round 1, but he was unable to close the show, and his fight IQ the rest of the way left much to be desired. Woodburn's corner was extremely frustrated with his performance and rightfully so. It's far from a guarantee he gets a third opportunity with the company.

Predictably crushed by Bo Nickal
Woodburn lost to Bo Nickal via TKO (punches) at 0:38 of Round 1 at UFC 290 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
A fight that was largely viewed as one of the greatest mismatches in UFC history played out exactly that way. The highlight of Woodburn's evening was the fact he actually stuffed a Nickal takedown attempt. Of course, he was nearly knocked out cold just seconds later. Woodburn accepted this fight less than a week ago, so the end result is irrelevant. The company will grant him another bout, and it will be interesting to see what he can do with a full training camp under his belt against an opponent that isn't arguably the greatest prospect in the history of the sport.
