New opponent scheduled
Parsons is scheduled to compete against Matthew Semelsberger in a welterweight fight at UFC Vegas 83, per James Lynch of Sportskeeda.
ANALYSIS
Parsons was supposed to fight Bassil Hafez, but he withdrew from UFC Vegas 83. Like Parsons, Semelsberger is trying to put a disappointing 2023 behind him and get back in the win column.

Fighting Hafez in January
Parsons will fight Bassil Hafez at UFC Vegas 83 on Jan. 13, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off the heels of a split-decision loss, Parsons will look to get back in the win column against Hafez, who lost his UFC debut in July. Parsons currently hold a 1-2 record within the UFC and dropping to 1-3 could spell danger for his future in the promotion.

Drops razor-thin split decision
Parsons lost to Trevin Giles via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 43 on Saturday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
This was essentially a pick 'em according to the Vegas oddsmakers, and it played out that way inside the Octagon. Parsons attempted to employ a wrestling-oriented attack. He fired off 11 takedown attempts, landing three. He had a few submission attempts and was credited with 5:16 worth of control time, but Giles was also effective on the mat. Simply put, this fight could have gone either way. Parsons is a highly-decorated mat specialist, with nine of his ten career wins coming via submission, but he offers next to nothing on the feet, and that makes it very difficult to consistently win at this level. The 27-year-old Floridian has now lost two of his first three UFC bouts.

To fight Giles
Parsons has been booked to fight Trevin Giles on March 25 at UFC San Antonio, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Parsons is coming off his first win in the UFC after losing his debut match to Daniel Rodriguez in Round 1 via punches. His win came over Evan Elder by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26). The 27-year-old will try to build on that when he takes on Giles, who is coming off a victory himself, and fighting in his hometown of San Antonio.

Easily earns first UFC victory
Parsons defeated Evan Elder via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Parsons was knocked out by Daniel Rodriguez in less than four minutes in his UFC debut last July, but had no issues whatsoever here with a late-notice replacement in Elder. Recognizing his overwhelming edge on the mat, Parsons landed two-thirds of his six takedown attempts, good for 7:48 worth of control time. Still just 26 years old, Parsons has nine career submission victories. On the flip side, he doesn't have a single knockout win in his professional career, and it's difficult to believe Parsons will be able to hang with better competition if he is unable to consistently threaten them on the feet. Still, this was a nice performance.
