2024 Fantasy Outlook
Wilson, the second overall draft pick in 2021, flamed out in New York and was traded to Denver in April. He will compete with veteran backup Jarrett Stidham to start -- if first-round pick Bo Nix isn’t ready for the job Week 1. Wilson became the starter last season after Aaron Rodgers was injured in the opener, but the season was as miserable as his first two. He finally lost the starting job Week 12, only two get it back by default two weeks later. A Week 15 concussion then ended the Jets' Wilson era. In three years as a Jet, he totaled 23 TD passes and 25 INTs. Wilson has a strong arm, but until he shakes his inaccuracy and poor decisions, he'll likely be the same QB in Denver that he was in New York. Read Past Outlooks

Gets fifth-year option declined
The Broncos informed Wilson on Wednesday that they won't exercise his fifth-year team option for 2025, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson, whom the Jets took with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, joined the Broncos in a trade shortly before April's draft. With Denver not in line to pick up his fifth-year option -- which would have been for a guaranteed $22.4 million -- the 24 year-old will become a free agent next March. For now, Wilson is slated to compete with first-round rookie Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham -- who started Denver's final two games of the 2023 regular season -- for the Week 1 starting assignment. While Nix is presumably viewed as the franchise's long-term answer at quarterback, in the short term, slotting at the position is up for grabs in advance of training camp.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Good start at Broncos' OTAs
Wilson, who was traded to the Broncos from the Jets in April, has gotten off to a solid start at Denver's OTAs, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson got a much-needed change of scenery with the move out of the Big Apple, where he largely struggled after being selected with the second overall pick in 2021. Head coach Sean Payton noted Thursday that Wilson, who worked with the first team in Wednesday's OTA practice session, has performed well so far, although he also had praise for the other two signal-callers vying for the starting job, rookie first-round pick Bo Nix and incumbent Jarrett Stidham. The competition is likely to go all the way through preseason, and Wilson notably has the experience edge on his fellow competitors after appearing in 34 games with the Jets over his first three seasons.

2021
Wilson was thrown into a starting role to begin his NFL career after being drafted second overall in 2021, but his 15:18 TD:INT in 22 starts suggests the former BYU standout would have been better off learning behind a veteran quarterback. Better late than never for Wilson, who will now get a chance to sit behind his childhood idol Aaron Rodgers. The Jets are hoping Wilson won't have to see the field in 2023, but if he's forced into action, Wilson will try to improve his questionable decision-making and poor accuracy so that his natural talent can finally shine through.
