2025 Fantasy Outlook
Not much has gone right for Wilson since he entered the league as the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. After three failed seasons with the Jets, in which he compiled a combined 23:25 TD:INT ratio, Wilson was traded to Denver and finally got his hands on a chance to develop on the bench in 2024. The Dolphins saw enough growth from Wilson during his time with the Broncos to prioritize pursuing him in free agency, positioning him as the presumptive backup to Tua Tagovailoa. Wilson boasts undeniable arm talent, so if he's managed to clean up his accuracy and decision-making issues, he'll offer Miami some upside behind Tua. Read Past Outlooks

Tosses one TD in preseason win
Wilson completed 15 of 23 pass attempts for 151 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 24-17 preseason win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Wilson turned in a mixed performance Saturday, highlighted by his first-quarter TD pass to Dee Eskridge, though he also underthrew Eskridge in the second quarter while attempting to connect on a deep completion and was nearly intercepted. He also whiffed on what would have been a TD pass to Tarik Black in the back of the end zone in the first quarter, with that drive ending via a fourth-down sack. In all, Wilson was clearly outshone by Quinn Ewers (11-of-17, 116 yards, two scores), and though coach Mike McDaniel said he's "not going to overreact to results" after one exhibition contest, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, the backup gig behind Tua Tagovailoa may now be a closer competition heading into Miami's preseason finale against the Jaguars on Sat., Aug. 23.

Wilson, the second pick in the 2021 draft, flamed out in New York and was traded to Denver in April. He will compete with veteran backup Jarrett Stidham to start -- if first-round pick Bo Nix isn’t ready for the job Week 1. Wilson became the starter last season after Aaron Rodgers was injured in the opener, but the season was as miserable as his first two. He finally lost the starting job Week 12, only two get it back by default two weeks later. A Week 15 concussion then ended the Jets' Wilson era. In three years as a Jet, he totaled 23 TD passes and 25 INTs. Wilson has a strong arm, but until he shakes his inaccuracy and poor decisions, he'll likely be the same QB in Denver that he was in New York.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Still has chance at roster spot
Head coach Sean Payton said Friday he can "certainly" envision a scenario where the Broncos keep three quarterbacks, presumably giving Wilson a chance to survive final cutdowns, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilson has essentially been relegated to the No. 3 quarterback at this point of the preseason, a slotting that was already confirmed even before Payton named rookie Bo Nix as his starting quarterback for Week 1. Despite that standing in the pecking order, Wilson has received Payton's positive reviews by association, with the head coach noting "I like that room" in reference to a trio of signal-callers that also includes Jarrett Stidham.
