Barnhart cleared waivers and elected free agency Tuesday.

The veteran backstop was designated for assignment by the Rangers over the weekend and won't stick in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Barnhart appeared in eight games during his month in the majors with Texas and went 3-for-13 with a walk.
