Major health scare
May 29, 2017
Overton is recovering from a recent life-threatening infection in his spine that required surgery, BBC.com reports. In a Facebook post over the weekend, Overton's wife wrote, "After several months off due to a herniated disc, Jeff underwent a minimally invasive procedure in hopes of improving the area. Through the procedure he acquired a life-threatening infection in his spine, forcing an emergency surgery."
ANALYSIS
Overton's wife added that his condition is improving and they "are finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel." Obviously this is a much bigger concern than Overton resuming his golf career, but hopefully he's on a full road to recovery. The Ryder Cup veteran hasn't played a pro event since November, when he withdrew from The RSM Classic.
