Ben Gamel News: Gets minor-league deal with Halos

Gamel signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Saturday.

Gamel was cut by the Tigers on May 21 after spending nearly a month on Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list due to an undisclosed issue. Before missing time wiht the injury, the outfielder batted .262 with two stolen bases over 17 games for Toledo. Presumably healthy again, the 33-year-old Gamel will report to Triple-A Salt Lake with his new organization with the hope of earning a look as a reserve outfielder with the big club later on this season.
