Frankie Montas Injury: On track for 2025 debut Tuesday
The Mets are expected to activate Montas (lat) from the 60-day injured list to start Tuesday against Atlanta at Citi Field, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Though Montas labored at the end of his six-start rehab assignment by allowing 13 earned runs in 6.2 innings over his final two starts, the Mets are apparently satisfied enough with the right-hander to have him make his next appearance for the big club. His struggles during the rehab assignment prompted the Mets to consider deploying him out of the bullpen, but they'll stick with the original plan to slot him into the rotation. Montas likely won't have a long leash in a starting role if he continues to languish with the big club, though he's helped by the fact that the Mets are still waiting on Sean Manaea (oblique), Kodai Senga (hamstring) and Tylor Megill (elbow) to return from the IL.
