Sergio Alcantara News: Dropped from 40-man roster

The Giants designated Alcantara for assignment Saturday.

After he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Friday in his first MLB game since 2022, Alcantara's time with the Giants will be short-lived now that Matt Chapman (hand) is back from the injured list. Prior to getting called up earlier in the week, Alcantara posted a .571 OPS over 256 plate appearances at Triple-A Sacramento. The 28-year-old is likely to go unclaimed off waivers.
