Hoeing worked as a swingman for Miami last season and finished with a 5.48 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 53:25 K:BB over 70.2 innings. He made 26 appearances out of the bullpen along with seven starts, and the right-hander pitched much better as a reliever with a 4.71 ERA compared to a 6.59 mark as a starter. Hoeing's serviceable performance in long relief should give him a leg up on making the Opening Day roster in 2024, but his low strikeout numbers (17.4 percent strikeout rate) leave limited upside for fantasy managers even if he manages to crack the rotation.
