Yefri Perez

Despite never appearing in a Triple-A game, Perez made the jump to the majors in early September, where the Marlins hoped to utilize his speed on the basepaths. As a major leaguer, he made three plate appearances in twelve games. He stole four bases in six attempts against major league catchers, and 39 bases in 50 attempts at Double-A Jacksonville, where he played in just 84 games due to a broken thumb suffered in July, which required surgery. In 2015, he swiped 71 bags in 135 games at High-A Juniper, where he was caught 21 times. In addition to his speed, Perez also provides great versatility in the field. He played 62 of his 84 minor league games last season in the outfield, 13 at second base, eight at shortstop and two at third base. With a good spring showing, Perez could be a contributor off the bench at the major-league level next season as a pinch runner and utility man.
