Hulett signed a minor league deal with the Rockies on Thursday, the team's official site reports.

ANALYSIS
Hulett did not play in the majors last season and had a measly .194 average in 45 games between the Mariners and Royals in 2008 and 2009.

Hulett was traded to the Red Sox in November for future considerations after spending the majority of 2009 at Triple-A Omaha where he hit .291/.384/.473 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI in 374 at-bats. He is a super-utility player with the ability to play all infield and corner-outfield positions. He will battle for a bench spot with the Red Sox, but will probably begin 2010 at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Hulett's future is, at best, limited to a backup role. He doesn't have great tools, but earns points for hustle as the endearing "scrappy" guy. He'll likely begin the season at Triple-A Tacoma.
