2025 Fantasy Outlook
Hancock was the Mariners' "sixth starter" last season, mostly filling in for Bryan Woo from time to time when Woo's elbow acted up. He wound up making 12 starts and was thoroughly underwhelming with a 4.75 ERA (5.69 FIP) and lowly 14.7 percent strikeout rate. Control is a strong suit for Hancock, but if you're going to be so feeble at missing bats you'd better generate lots of ground balls and/or soft contact and the right-hander does neither of those things. Hancock has the pedigree of a No. 6 overall pick and former top-100 prospect, but he's never really looked like anything more than a potential back-end starter and his performance thus far at the big-league level suggests he might not even reach that level. Pitches well in no-decision
Hancock didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Baltimore, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Hancock blanked the Orioles through five innings before Adley Rutschman broke the stalemate with a solo homer in the sixth frame. Aside from a rough start May 12 against the Yankees, Hancock has been excellent lately. Outside of that game in which he gave up seven runs, Hancock owns a 2.93 ERA across 27.2 innings since the start of May. With Logan Gilbert (elbow) on the mend, Hancock's time in the Mariners' rotation could be coming to a close.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2021
Hancock was the sixth pick of the 2020 MLB Draft, and the product of Georgia hasn't shown much consistency in his time as a professional. He was able to reach the majors in 2023, however, and he appeared to have a spot in the Seattle rotation for the remainder of the season until he was diagnosed with a Grade 1-plus shoulder strain in August after making three starts with Seattle. The 24-year-old doesn't have an overpowering fastball, but he commands it well enough to get ahead in counts, and his slider has a chance to be an out-pitch at the highest level. Hancock is not a future ace and he doesn't seem likely to be a part of the Seattle rotation to open the year, but he's a name that's worth keeping an eye on if he does get the chance or he changes organization.
