Ajay Mitchell News: Set to receive three-year deal
Mitchell agreed Sunday with the Thunder on a three-year contract worth nearly $9 million, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
The Thunder declined Mitchell's $3 million team option for 2025-26 but will bring him back at roughly the same salary for the next three seasons. After opening his professional career as a two-way player for Oklahoma City, the 2024 second-round pick was upgraded to a standard NBA contract in February. Mitchell went on to finish the regular season with averages of 6.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 16.6 minutes over 36 games, though he missed just over three months of action while recovering from Jan. 3 surgery to address a right big toe sprain. He finished the season healthy and will be in the mix for a rotation spot in his sophomore campaign, though Mitchell may be pushed for a backup guard spot by 2024 first-round pick Nikola Topic (knee), who will return to action in 2025-26 after missing his entire rookie season while recovering from ACL surgery.
