Putnam posted a 15-under cumulative score at the Valero Texas Open to finish tied with
Ludvig Aberg for fifth.
ANALYSISPutnam was one of a handful of players jockeying at the top of the leaderboard during the final round. He needed a birdie on the par-5 18th to tie
J.J. Spaun at the top of the leaderboard, but Putnam's third shot ended up finding the green-side bunker, eventually leading to a bogey. It wasn't the finish that Putnam was hoping for, but the 37-year-old American now has two top-5 finishes to his name this season and has made the cut in five consecutive Tour events. He ranked in the top-5 in the field in SG: Putting, SG: Approach, birdies made, driving accuracy and scrambling. Putnam is not in the field for The Masters next week.
