Thomas closed with a three-under 67 on Sunday at the Travelers Championship to finish in a share of ninth place.
ANALYSIS
Thomas was in contention through two rounds but a quadruple bogey on the par-5 13th hole Saturday essentially ended any hopes of him winning the tournament. Nevertheless, he did post three rounds of 67 or better and gained shots in every strokes gained category for the week, but his achilles heel continues to be his driving play as he hit less than half of the fairways. Overall, the result was much needed as Thomas had shown poor form since finishing T2 at the Truist Championship in early May.
