Won't throw for 12 weeks
Lopez underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery Tuesday and will be shut down from throwing for the next 12 weeks, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker termed the surgery as a "clean-up" procedure and is optimistic that Lopez will be able to pitch again late in the season. However, given that he's not scheduled to be evaluated until shortly before the All-Star break and will then require an extended ramp-up period once he's deemed ready to start a throwing program, Lopez is tough to justify holding in most redraft leagues. Lopez made just one start before being shut down with the shoulder issue.
