Arrested on battery charge
July 22, 2021
Williams was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, Manny Navarro of The Athletic reports. Miami announced Thursday that the program is aware of Williams' arrest and has suspended him indefinitely from team activities.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim of the alleged incident is Williams' ex-girlfriend, who is 31 weeks pregnant. One of the Hurricanes' top recruits from the team's 2020 signing class, Williams, a six-foot, 198-pound safety, didn't play as a true freshman after a preseason exam detected an unspecified medical issue. His status heading into 2021 was unclear before the news of his arrest.
