CFB Waiver Wire: Players to Pick Up Week 7

This article is part of our CFB Waiver Wire series.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC

Will Worth, QB, Navy: Worth and the Midshipmen shocked the nation with a 46-40 win over Houston on Saturday. If Worth can throw two touchdowns and rush for 115 yards and a score versus Houston, why can't he do it against East Carolina on Thursday Night? Worth isn't the most skilled quarterback, but he's going to see volume in either the passing or running game which fantasy players love to see.

Mitchell Wilcox, TE, USF: Wilcox filled in for the injured Elkanah Dillon (ankle) on Saturday and caught two passes for 52 yards against East Carolina. The Bulls' upcoming game with Connecticut appears to be a great opportunity for Wilcox as the Huskies are giving up over 300 receiving yards a game.

ACC

Deondre Francois, QB, Florida State: The redshirt freshman quarterback continues to look better and better with each game this season. Francois took a ton of hits Saturday courtesy of the Miami Hurricanes, but was still able to put the team on his back and lead them to a 20-19 win. Francois has been solid this season with 11 total touchdowns and just two interceptions.

Jester Weah, WR, Pittsburgh: Two weeks ago, Weah had seven catches for 176 yards and a touchdown against Marshall. He'll have a favorable matchup again this week when the Panthers play a Virginia team giving up over 300 passing yards a game. Pittsburgh has scored at least 28 points in every game this season, meaning there will

He'll have a favorable matchup again this week when the Panthers play a Virginia team giving up over 300 passing yards a game. Pittsburgh has scored at least 28 points in every game this season, meaning there will be some scoring opportunities for Weah on Saturday.

BIG 12

Mike Warren, RB, Iowa State: For some odd reason, Iowa State gave their star running back a total of only three touches in the second half of a loss at Oklahoma State. Warren managed 50 yards on nine carries and wasn't particularly happy with his team's performance. Warren should rebound against a horrible Texas defense which just gave up over 200 yards rushing to Oklahoma's Samaje Perine.

Daikiel Shorts, WR, West Virginia: Teammate Shelton Gibson is the stud receiver in the West Virginia offense and won't be available on the wire, but you can likely find Shorts there. Shorts is the team's possession receiver with at least five catches in all four of the Mountaineers' wins this season. Against a bad Texas Tech secondary, Shorts will have an opportunity to shine. Running back Justin Crawford will also be a strong play this week.

BIG TEN

Chayce Crouch, QB, Illinois: In a 34-31 loss to Purdue on Saturday, starting quarterback Wes Lunt was knocked out of the game. Crouch came in and led the team with 137 rushing yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 142 yards on 10-of-14 passing. If Lunt is forced to miss this week's action, it would be perfect timing for Crouch who would get to play a Rutgers defense that hasn't been able to stop anyone's running game. In a 78-0 loss to Michigan on Saturday, Rutgers gave up 481 rushing yards.

Akrum Wadley, RB, Iowa: Next to the woeful Rutgers rush defense is Purdue's rush defense that is giving up over 225 yards per game. Take Iowa's Wadley, who has been a touchdown machine with eight total touchdowns this season and you have a recipe for a big fantasy day. Against Minnesota on Saturday, Wadley notched his second 100-yard game of the season. Look for his third at Purdue this week.

CONFERENCE USA

Ryan Higgins, QB, Louisiana Tech: Higgins was sensational in a 55-52 win over Western Kentucky on Thursday Night while throwing for 454 yards and five touchdowns. In the Bulldogs' ridiculous air-raid offense, Higgins has three 400-yard passing games and a total of 20 touchdowns compared to only two interceptions in just five games. With playmakers like Carlos Henderson and Jarred Craft, Higgins should have another huge week against Massachusetts.

Thomas Owens, WR, FIU: After an extremely slow start to the season – five catches for 71 yards through the first four games – Owens has returned to form in his last two games with 11 catches for 186 yards and three touchdowns. In 2015, Owens had 51 catches for 638 yards and eight touchdowns. His numbers will get even better this week when the Panthers play a Charlotte team with one of the worst defenses in the nation.

MAC

Nick Holley, RB, Kent State: For the last two weeks, Holley has served double duty as the Flashes' primary running back and quarterback. Versus Akron, the junior threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for a score. Last week against Buffalo, he threw for 89 yards and rushed for 224 yards and four touchdowns. Jump on the Holley train and see if he can do the same thing against Miami (OH) this week.

Corey Jones, WR, Toledo: Teammates Logan Woodside, Kareem Hunt and Cody Thompson should all be owned in most fantasy leagues, so go a different direction with the Rockets and grab Jones. The senior has 26 catches for 273 yards and three touchdowns. This week's opponent, Bowling Green, struggles against opposing quarterbacks, so Jones should be good for a six or seven catches.

MOUNTAIN WEST

James Butler, RB, Nevada: Butler has at least 20 carries in five of six games this season and is the clear workhorse in the Nevada offense. He had a season-high 37 carries for 175 yards in a win over Fresno State on Saturday. For fantasy players looking for a non power-five option, Butler is going to get a slew of carries versus a mediocre San Jose State defense this week.

Mikah Holder, WR, San Diego State: Stud running back Donnel Pumphrey can't hog all the production for a very good Aztecs team. Holder is the best receiver on the team with 15 catches and three touchdowns. He'll have a chance to score against Fresno State this week and will continue to get more targets as defenses try to figure out how to slow down Pumphrey.

PAC-12

River Cracraft, WR, Washington State: If you can go on the road and record a 100-yard receiving game with a score against Stanford, you deserve to be owned in fantasy leagues. With a capable quarterback in Luke Falk, it's a shock that it took five weeks for Cracraft to get his first touchdown. The Cougars have a tougher matchup with UCLA this week, but then get Arizona State and Oregon State.

Ryan Nall, RB, Oregon State: Nall went off against California on Saturday while racking up a career-high 221 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He was particularly impressive on runs of 62 and 80 yards. While it was an inferior opponent in Cal, Nall had already flashed promise this year while averaging 4.3 yards per carry with three touchdowns against decent competition. The sophomore has received double-digit touches in all five games this season and will be a solid play against Utah this week if he's able to shake off a leg injury.

SEC

Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee: The Volunteers almost pulled off the unthinkable for the second straight week, but fell short against Texas A&M in double overtime. It was Kamira's coming-out party as the junior running back totaled 288 yards and three touchdowns on 26 total touches. Even if Jalen Hurd returns from an undisclosed injury, Kamura should see some snaps versus Alabama if your team needs help at the running back position.

Jared Cornelius, WR, Arkansas: Since returning from a back injury three weeks ago, Cornelius has 16 catches for 378 yards and three touchdowns. Arkansas will host Mississippi this week which projects to be a shootout with both teams averaging over 35 points per game. Cornelius will attempt to record his fourth straight 100-yard receiving game.

SUN BELT

Stedman Mayberry, RB, Texas State: Although averaging under four yards per carry, Mayberry has seen a minimum of 25 touches each of the past two weeks. UL-Monroe has arguably the worst defense in the nation which means that Mayberry should be able to stumble into a career game this week. With at least three receptions in every game this season, he provides even more value in PPR formats.

Marcus Green, WR, UL-Monroe: As mentioned above, UL-Monroe has one of the worst defenses in the country. Well, so does Texas State, so their matchup this week should be a high-scoring affair. Green has been the most consistent receiver on the team with 20 catches for 246 yards and three touchdowns.
