Doherty played his last ODI against India on Australia Day at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where he only bowled three overs for 10 runs in the washed-out match.

ANALYSIS
Doherty will not play a large role in the World Cup, even though he is the only specialized spinner in the squad. Not a huge turner of the ball, nor a great taker of wickets, he is a very economical bowler who has proven himself over time as Australia's go-to ODI spinner. He will probably only play at selected grounds, as the Australian team has a group of all rounders who bat better than Doherty, and can also take the role of the fifth bowling option. While he is not a complete bunny with the bat, others will likely be picked ahead of him on most occasions.
