There could be a fit here, as the Pats could probably use added linebacker depth and though McGinest has lost a step, he knows the system well and is the sort of veteran that the team's coaching staff is often able to get the most of.

The veteran had 40 tackles in 13 games during the 2007 season and should start at linebacker for the Browns in 2008, his final season in the NFL.
Starting DE for the Browns. He will continue to provide veteran leadership for a young defensive corps.
McGinest will anchor the team's revamped defense. He was one of a few high profile free-agent signees in the off-season and will be relied upon to put up solid numbers and provide veteran guidance to the team's young group of players.
McGinest, the oldest linebacker in the league to start 16 games last year at 33, recorded 9.5 sacks, which may be a hard number to duplicate, but he is still a productive member of one of the NFL's toughest defenses, one that plays to his strenghths.
Only Troy Brown has ben with the Patriots longer, McGinest isn't the player he once was, but he still has enough in the tank to be a solid contributor who can come up with occasional big play.
