2021 Fantasy Outlook
With Wil Lutz bouncing back from core muscle surgery and slated to miss time early on this season, the Saints needed to bring in a kicker in advance of Week 1 and Rosas gets the first shot to fill in after turning in a good workout with the team in August. Rosas kicked in six games with the Jaguars last season, making eight of his 11 field goal attempts, en route to recording 33 points. Read Past Outlooks

The Saints signed Rosas off their practice squad Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Rosas got the first shot to fill in as the Saints' placekicker Week 1 while Wil Lutz recovers from core-muscle surgery. In his debut with the team this past Sunday against the Packers, Rosas nailed a 44-yard field goal to kick off the scoring and made all five of his point-after attempts. In what appears to be a high-scoring offense, he should have plenty of opportunities to score in Lutz's absence as a member of the 53-man roster instead of being reduced to a practice-squad elevation, as he was Week 1.

It's hard to reach a conclusion on Rosas, who has sandwiched two bad seasons around one very good one. He was a total non-factor for fantasy purposes in 2019, as the Giants struggled to sustain drives but scored a number of long touchdowns, limiting Rosas to 17 FG attempts in 16 games. That kind of thing tends to regress over time, but there's still cause for doubt in terms of both job security and team context.
Rosas rebounded from a dreadful rookie season in 2017 with a Pro Bowl campaign in 2018, giving him excellent job security heading into 2019. His ranking might seem high for a kicker on a bad team, but part of the equation is an offseason that saw the Giants shed defensive talent (and Odell Beckham Jr.) while improving their offensive line. Rosas should still get plenty of chances if Saquon Barkley thrives.
Rosas had the worst field-goal percentage among all kickers with at least 12 attempts last season, missing two kicks in the 30-39 range and five from 40-49. He did hit all three of his tries from 50-plus, but also went just 20 of 23 on extra-point attempts. The Giants have some rebound potential on offense with Saquon Barkley joining the team, but Rosas will first need to win a camp battle against Marshall Koehn.
Rosas signed a reserve/future contract in January, and while he was lightly expected to compete for the starting job during training camp, the Giants appear ready to give it to him after releasing Robbie Gould, who replaced Josh Brown last season. Rosas has a much stronger leg than the prior two kickers, and he could emerge as a viable fantasy option for a Giants team that is expected to improve offensively this year. It's also possible the Giants' offense will struggle in the red zone but not between the 20s, as the running game was weak last season.
