Arron Oberholser

Oberholser spent most of 2007 battling wrist and back injuries and just when he got past those ailments, he lost more time due to a broken bone in his hand. He took care of that matter with surgery late in the year, and should be ready to go for the start of the 2008 season. Should be is the key phrase there. You never know how players will respond to injuries. Even if it takes a couple months to hit full stride, Oberholser should be better in 2008 than he was in 2007. He will have surgery on July 22 to remove a bone spur in his left hand. He will be out of action until close to the end of the season. Oberholser returned to play in the Fall Series Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in mid-October.

Oberholser surprised many with his early season win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last February. After that event and a few solid showings, expectations began to rise. As expectations rose his production fell. Oberholser found himself in a mid-season rut and didn't work his way out until late in the season. The outlook for Oberholser in 2007 is very good, though. That he was able to work through a slump says a lot. He also showed well at the WGC events last year, which is another good sign.

Oberholser has a nice season in 2004, but nothing spectacular. He lost in a playoff at the Wachovia Championship which was his best finish of the year and accounted for nearly half of his earnings. That alone would scare many off him, but he did win an event called the Shinhah Korean Challenge last November. While this event didn't have a strong field, a win can do a lot for a younger guy looking to break through
