Tom Pernice Jr.

Pernice, Jr. did not finish inside the top 125 on the money list in 2009 which causes to wonder if he will play on the Senior Tour or use past champion status and play a limited schedule on the PGA Tour. Expect a dip in money earned for 2010 after Pernice, Jr. failed to earn full playing privledges in 2010.

Pernice peaked in 2006, and is trending downward as he nears. He will turn 50 in September of 2009.

Pernice Jr. may not be as good as he showed in 2006, but he's better than he looked last year. Pernice Jr. is the type of player that will be in the mix quite a bit throughout the season. What separates the good years from the great years are whether or not he can find a couple top-5s, or a runner-up finish here and there. He's proven that he can win from time to time, so a strong improvement from last season is not out of the question.

Pernice Jr. has been a pretty solid player on the PGA Tour the last few years. He doesn't have much name recognition, but he was 25th in earnings in 2006 and came through with seven top 10s. It wasn't a huge fluke either, as he earned $1,608,057 in 2005 and $1,475,274 in 2004. He'll play over 30 events a season. The only negative is he's 47 years old, so there's probably not much upside over his 2006 season.

It took Pernice more than 10 months to crack the top-10 in 2005. That is certainly not a good sign. His two best finishes came in the fall season where he earned a runner-up and third-place finish in back-to-back weeks. Pernice has been near $1.3 million to 1.6 million in earnings since 2001 and there's no reason why that would change this year. It's hard to select a player with little upside.

Pernice had a nice stretch of four tourneys where he finished in the Top Ten three times. Other than that, he flat out did not play well until the fall of course. He's on a roll entering 2004, but it remains to be seen if he can keep up his revival at age 44.
