2025 Fantasy Outlook
Pettersson is coming off a disappointing 2024-25 campaign, in which he notched only 15 goals and 45 points across 64 appearances. He struggled with consistency issues before missing the final 12 games of the season due to an oblique injury. After being criticized by coaches and management for his lack of preparation, he should hit the ground running at training camp. He possesses plenty of bounce-back potential, but it could be challenging for him to return to being a point-per-game threat in 2025-26 because of Vancouver’s scoring problems. Still, Pettersson has multi-category upside if he tops 200 shots and nears 100 hits while recording a block per contest. Read Past Outlooks

Pots first goal
Pettersson scored a goal on two shots on goal and blocked three shots during 18:37 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Capitals.
ANALYSIS
Pettersson is finally on the goal-scoring board, getting the Canucks started right under a minute into the game. The 26-year-old now has three points on the season in six games, more in line with the top-line pivot's disastrous 45-point season from last year than the 89-point season he had two years ago. What Pettersson will show up the rest of the year remains to be seen, but it certainly was a good sign to see him score Sunday.

Pettersson couldn't quite match the career highs of 39 goals and 102 points he set in 2022-23, but with 34 markers and 89 points through 82 regular-season outings last year, his latest performance left fantasy managers with plenty to be happy about. Looking ahead, Pettersson is gearing up for the first campaign of his eight-year, $92.8 million deal, and given that he's just 25, there's every reason to believe he'll be one of Vancouver's top offensive threats throughout that deal. Finishing with over a point per game seems like a reasonable expectation for the 2024-25 campaign, but reaching the 40-goal milestone for the first time in his career would likely require him to be a bit more selfish with the puck. While he had a strong 16.4 shooting percentage last season and his career average is similar at 16.6, Pettersson logged 207 shots last season, putting him in a four-way tie for 68th in the league. Perhaps he'll eventually start to fire the puck more, but his floor appears to be a 30-goal, 80-point center.

Adds muscle for 2025-26
Pettersson is feeling strong and has added muscle for the 2025-26 campaign, per NHL.com.
ANALYSIS
Pettersson ended 2024-25 sidelined by an oblique injury. He had a disappointing and drama-filled campaign, ending up with a mere 15 goals and 45 points in 64 appearances. Considering he has a 100-point campaign under his belt and has topped the point-per-game mark twice, he is positioned for a bounce-back year. The 26-year-old also shot a career-low 13.8 percent last season, and while that's a quality number for most players, it came on just 109 shots, so he should be more efficient at a higher volume as the Canucks' top center as long as he can stay healthy.
