Signs with Detroit
Bernard-Docker signed a one-year, $875,000 with the Red Wings on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Bernard-Docker wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from the Sabres on Monday, but it didn't take long for him to find a new home. The right-shot defenseman supplied two goals and eight points over 40 regular-season contests between Ottawa and Buffalo in 2024-25. The 25-year-old will likely have to compete with Justin Holl and Ian Mitchell for a spot on the third pairing in 2025-26.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A first-round pick (26th overall) in 2018, Bernard-Docker was a regular for the first time for the Senators a season ago, appearing in 72 of 82 regular-season games. He managed just four goals and 14 points, although Bernard-Docker did add 62 hits and 156 blocked shots. Set to play the entirety of this upcoming season at age 24, JBD seems likely to battle veteran Travis Hamonic for a spot on Ottawa's third defensive pairing to begin the year. The winner will have zero fantasy appeal.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Likely headed for Buffalo
Bernard-Docker and Josh Norris are reportedly being traded to Buffalo from Ottawa on Friday, Kevin Weekes of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bernard-Docker has been out of action since Dec. 28 due to an ankle injury. While the defenseman has been cleared from his injury, he's yet to actually see any minutes on the Sens' blue line, and now it appears his time in Ottawa has come to a close. Even when healthy, the Alberta native has offered limited offensive upside, generating just four points in his 25 games this year.
