Last season, the right winger split time between Barrie and Sudbury in the OHL. The gifted sniper produced 96 points (50 goals and 46 assists) In 64 total games. At this point, Sokolov has done about all he can at the junior level and it's time for the 20-year-old to develop in AHL Iowa. In 2016-17, he played two games at the AHL level, tallying one goal in the process. A seventh-round selection (196th overall) in the 2016 draft, the native of Omsk, Russia is unlikely to ascend to NHL action this season, but if his junior production is any indicator, Sokolov could wind up being a force in the AHL as early as this year. If that turns out to be the case, he'll find himself on the big club's radar sooner rather than later.
