Straka will indeed play for Plsen in the Czech Republic next season, according to NY Newsday.
ANALYSIS
One has to wonder if Straka was waiting to make sure Jaromir Jagr would not come back to the Rangers before making his final decision. During his NHL career, Straka totaled 257 goals and 717 points in 954 games for Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Florida, Los Angeles, the Islanders and the Rangers.

Straka was on pace to reach 100 points last season until a knee injury derailed that train ride. While he did return to play through some of the pain, the momentum that carried him early on seem to fade as his point production become rather sporadic especially late in the season. No doubt this was the result of trying to fight through the injury, but it certainly affected his bottom line. Coming into this season, Straka should be healthy and ready to go; the Jaromir Jagr - Scott Gomez - Straka line should be a pass-happy point-producing machine. Straka might fly under the radar on draft day, so expect him to be available in the mid-rounds.
Playing on the left side of Jaromir Jagr’s line has resurrected Straka’s career, as he scored 22 goals, 54 assists for 76 points -- his most since 2000-01 (95 points) when Jagr was still part of that Pittsburgh attack. Having Straka still in the fold guarantees that the Michael Nylander/Straka /Jagr line combination is still a force to be reckoned with in 2006-07, and a decent fantasy contributor if you’re lucky enough to land one of those players in your draft
Straka played his best hockey with Jagr as his linemate in Pittsburgh, so it’s conceivable that the Rangers are hoping to resurrect the kind of offense these two are capable of putting up. They last skated together in the 2000 season, with Straka registering 27 goals, 68 assists for 95 points, and Jagr tallying 52 goals, and 69 assists for 121 points respectively. Monster numbers considering that after Jagr was shipped away to the Capitals the following season, both their careers took a substantial nosedive. Jagr has since never seen a 100 point season, and Straka struggled to find his offensive game (while dabbling with injuries throughout). It’s the Rangers hope that they can again find the chemistry which made them offensive studs, and hopefully pairing them together on the same line will give the (Madison Square) Garden crowd something to cheer about.
