Ashkan Mokhtarian

The Assassin
Finished with brutal head kick in Round 3
FlyweightUFC
November 18, 2017
Mokhtarian was defeated by Ryan Benoit via KO (head kick) at 2:38 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night 121 on Saturday in Australia.
ANALYSIS
Mokhtarian had a puzzling strategy that made the Australian crowd cheer for the American in this contest. "The Assassin" landed a big left hand early that rocked Benoit, but then spent the rest of the fight circling him. He was not effective with this strategy and was still being outstruck by Benoit. Eventually, "Baby Face" caught up with him in the third round and landed a vicious head kick that shut off the lights for the Iranian-born fighter. It was an odd performance by Mokhtarian and his timid strategy did not pay off.

Not competitive in UFC debut Saturday
FlyweightUFC
June 10, 2017
Mokhtarian dropped his UFC debut to John Moraga on Saturday, falling via unanimous decision (25-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland, New Zealand.
ANALYSIS
You don't want to kick a guy when he is down, but that was about as poor of an effort as you will ever see from someone in their company debut. Mokhtarian was dominated from the second the opening bell rang. He was was half a step slow in the striking game and spent more than half of the fight being controlled by Moraga on the mat. Mokhtarian will get another opportunity with the company, but fans shouldn't expect much better than what we saw on Saturday.
