Damien Brown

Beatdown
Looking at release after third straight loss
LightweightUFC
February 10, 2018
Brown lost to Dong Hyun Kim via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 221 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Make it back-to-back split decision losses for Brown. While he hung around on Saturday, he didn't deserve to win. Brown was constantly being beaten to the punch in what was a 15-minute kickboxing match. The best thing you can say about Beatdown these days is that he is tough and gritty and when you get to that point, your time with the company is nearing the end of the line. A loser of three in a row, there's no guarantee that Brown will get another chance inside the octagon.

Loses split decision in Fight of the Night

Brown was defeated by Frank Camacho via split decision (28-29, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 121 on Saturday in Australia.
ANALYSIS
Even though it was the first fight of the night, this fight earned both fighters Fight of the Night honors. Brown and Camacho engaged in a firefight for the final two rounds. Brown almost finished the fight in the first round when he took Camacho down, but he was unable to finish two rear-naked choke opportunities toward the end of the first round. In the second, both fighters threw caution to the wind and engaged in a stand-up war. Brown had a good strategy to try to use elbows, but was susceptible to Camacho's jab and right hook. In the third round, Brown was able to cut Camacho, but he ate far too many strikes toward the end of the fight. This was a very exciting fight and would be worthy of a rematch due to Camacho missing weight on Friday. Brown took home $50,000 for his efforts but as Camacho missed weight, he was not eligible for his cut.

Brown lost to Vinc Pichel via KO (punches) at 3:37 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 110 on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand.
ANALYSIS
Brown was pushing forward and appeared to be in good position before one well placed left hand from Pichel turned his lights out. He ate four or five unnecessary shots because referee Mark Craig didn't stop the fight when he should have. The loss snaps a brief two-fight winning streak for Brown. Now 2-2 during his time in the UFC, Brown should continue to be featured on the company's Australian and New Zealand cards.

Brown defeated Jon Tuck via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Melbourne, Australia.
ANALYSIS
After dropping the first round, Brown came back to take the decision. Tuck went for a takedown early, and Brown countered with a guillotine choke. After Tuck escape, the two ended up back on their feet. Brown was surprised as he caught a hard shot from Tuck that floored him. The next two rounds were spent on the feet, and Brown was the more active fighter. He deserved the decision, but this was not an overly impressive performance.
