Does nothing in loss to Hector Sandoval Saturday
FlyweightUFC
December 17, 2016
Serrano lost to Hector Sandoval via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC on FOX 22 on Saturday in Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
It's rare that a bout goes the distance and you find a fighter who accomplished as little as Serrano did in this one. Unable to land with any regularity on the feet, Serrano tried for eight takedowns attempts and he failed on every single one of them. It was a dismal effort all the way around. Serrano has now lost back-to-back fights after winning his first two UFC bouts.

Drops split decision to Ryan Benoit Saturday
FlyweightUFC
July 30, 2016
Serrano lost to Ryan Benoit via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 201 on Saturday in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Serrano is a good wrestler (as one would hope considering he competed in the Olympics in the sport), but as a newcomer to MMA, the rest of his skills are lacking, and that was evident on Saturday. Serrano connected on 5-of-14 takedown attempts, and he won the total strike battle by a count of 67-45, but he loads up on every single strike that he throws and that allows his opponents, in this case Benoit, to be able to position themselves to slide out of the way. Serrano threw repeated axe-kicks, which is very strange considering the level of difficulty in pulling one off successfully. This fight was moved to the main card as the result of cancellation of the Ian McCall v. Justin Scoggins bout, but Serrano is nothing more than roster depth.

Serrano defeated Yao Zhikui via TKO (Elbow Injury) at 0:44 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 79 on Saturday in Seoul, South Korea.
ANALYSIS
Serrano's second victory inside the octagon came in quick (if anti-climactic) fashion. In the process of dumping his opponent on a takedown, Zhikui dislocated his elbow, resulting in a lightning-fast TKO. In the young history of the division, Serrano now owns the fastest finish of any UFC flyweight.
