Can't escape torturous third round
Horie lost to Hakeem Dawodu via TKO (head kick) at 4:09 of Round 3 at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Horie started the fight on a high note, darting in and out while stinging his opponent with strikes, but after a while it became clear that he was looking for the same overhand shot time and time again, which allowed the slick Dawodu to get his head off the center line and work his game before pouring on the offense in the final frame. Horie is clearly a fast and powerful kickboxer, but the lack of diversity and clear predilection towards countering could hurt him at the highest level. He falls to 8-2 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
