Perez committed a huge mistake on the first goal scored by the opposition as she let the ball escape from her control and go under her own body to leave Lauren Hemp alone in front of the empty net to make it 1-1 just before halftime. Then, the goalkeeper was beaten again when Alessia Mia Teresa Russo turned around and fired a powerful right-footer into the far post just after the hour mark. Despite the subpar performance here, Perez had a nice tournament, with 15 saves, two clean sheets and just four goals allowed over five World Cup starts.
