Drops decision to John Makdessi
LightweightOther
December 16, 2017
Trujillo lost to John Makdessi via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Winnipeg on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Trujillo took steady punishment throughout the fight, and in the first round suffered both an eye poke and a low blow to add insult to injury. After warnings, Trujillo pressed forward, but it became apparent he was the less technically sound striker of the two. His lead leg took countless blows as he failed to switch stances, and Makdessi ultimately landed enough strikes to sway the judges. This will mark the second consecutive loss for Trujillo following what was a three-fight winning streak.

Draws John Makdessi for Winnipeg
LightweightOther
December 14, 2017
Trujillo will face John Makdessi in a lightweight bout at UFC on Fox 26 on Dec. 16 in Winnipeg, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Trujillo maintains a 15-7, 1NC record (6-3, 1NC UFC). He recently broke a three-fight winning streak after being submitted by James Vick in Feb. The striker will take on an aggressive stand-up fighter in this contest. He will have a two-inch reach advantage that he would be wise to use to keep "The Bull" out.
Drops from UFC 216
LightweightOther
August 14, 2017
Trujillo has been replaced by Bobby Green for UFC 216 on Oct. 7, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A reason has not been given for the change, but the 33-year-old is out of UFC 216 regardless. Trujillo last fought in February, losing to James Vick via submission (Brabo choke) early in Round 3.
Gets Lando Vannata at UFC 216
LightweightOther
August 2, 2017
Trujillo will take on Lando Vannata at UFC 216 on Oct. 7 in Las Vegas, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Trujillo last saw the Octagon in February, when a submission loss to a red-hot James Vick snapped his three-fight winning streak. A veteran of 22 professional fights, the 33-year-old Trujillo will need to put his patience on display against an aggressive fighter in Vannata. He could also try and curb Vannata's non-stop offense by using the takedown, which Trujillo converts at a rate of 51 percent. Trujillo should enter as the betting favorite, though any opponent standing in Vannata's way -- even lightweight stalwart Tony Ferguson -- is at risk of getting knocked out.
Submitted by James Vick in Houston
LightweightOther
February 4, 2017
Trujillo lost to James Vick via submission (Brabo choke) at 0:49 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
It was the same old story for Trujillo: a lot of reckless striking and little else. Even when he lands a takedown, which he did in Round 1 on Saturday, it's due to brute strength as opposed to any real technique. Trujillo did a very good job of fighting off multiple submission attempts from Vick in Round 2, but after a huge knee landed early in Round 3, Trujillo couldn't fight off the final submission attempt. Trujillo has had some nice efforts against nobodies, but he has never shown any ability to beat talented opposition.
Gets replacement opponent on Houston card
LightweightOther
January 19, 2017
Trujillo is now scheduled to face James Vick at a Feb. 4 UFC Fight Night event in Houston, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Trujillo is riding a three-fight winning streak, most recently earning a unanimous-decision victory over Jordan Rinaldi in May. He was originally scheduled to face Evan Dunham, but both Dunham and Vick's opponent had to withdraw, setting the stage for this lightweight battle. Trujillo has both momentum and experience working in his favor -- he's gone toe-to-toe with top lightweight contenders Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson in the past.
