Lyons has been exceptionally productive all season long and the finals opener was no exception. Aside from three matches in which he didn't top 20 disposals, Lyons serves as an important part of the midfield and Friday's match was no exception. He'll have another break in anticipation of the next match of the finals.

Lyons scored one major and one behind to go with 20 disposals (13 kicks, seven handballs) and made three tackles during Sunday's 73-51 over Sydney.
Lyons had to take the reins in midfield with Lachie Neale struggling to make an impact throughout Saturday's match. Though not his best performance, Lyons still made an impact to maintain the Lions' control in midfield. Even when Lyons doesn't get many touches, he's still a player that works extremely hard and has consistent value on a weekly basis.

Lyons ended with 27 disposals (16 kicks, 11 handballs), three marks, two tackles, one goal and one behind in Friday's 42-34 victory over the Magpies.
Lyons got back on track during Friday's victory after a disappointing showing in his last game. The prolific midfielder currently ranks inside the top-20 across multiple categories including total disposals, clearances, tackles and score involvements. The Lions are going to be pushing hard for a top-two finish and so Lyons should be able to continue churning out the production moving forward.

Lyons could have done even better but he and the whole team just couldn't score enough majors to compete with their in-form opponents. Even considering this, Lyons should have few problems keeping up his production no matter the opponent, since he produces well even when he doesn't top 20 disposals.

Lyons was an important part of the plan to hold off a strong push by Melbourne. He collected his best marking and tackling effort of the season in this contest, and will next have to face another in-form club in Essendon.

Lyons contributed to an efficient second quarter that widened the lead after a tight start between two top clubs. An exceptionally active player, Lyons serves as an excellent partner to star Lachie Neale to help Brisbane dominate in midfield. Lyons, despite the explosion in the second period, exemplified that he can play better in big games while still maintaining impressive showings against clubs lower in the ladder, which is helping to grow his stature in the premiership.
