Dominant in win
MEssendon Bombers
May 29, 2021
Merrett scored one behind to go with 37 disposals (20 kicks, 17 handballs) while also making five tackles and five marks during Saturday's 87-71 win over West Coast in Round 11.
ANALYSIS
Merrett had a less-positive role to play when he injured Tim Kelly in a tackle, but he was still the star of the show with a third game from his last four with over 30 disposals. Outside of a single game against Fremantle, Merrett has seldom come close to scoring less than 100 fantasy points each week.

Garners game-high 37 disposals
MEssendon Bombers
May 8, 2021
Merrett finished with 37 disposals (22 kicks, 15 handballs), six marks, three tackles and two behinds in Saturday's 107-105 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Merrett was made to work for everything during the loss but still managed to turn in another gem of a performance. Currently the number one ranked player in total uncontested possessions, Merrett is putting together arguably the best season of his career. The Bombers have now suffered back-to-back losses in heartbreaking circumstances and so there is reason to believe they will get things trending in the right direction, sooner rather than later.
Remains high value despite loss
MEssendon Bombers
April 17, 2021
Merrett logged 35 disposals (15 kicks, 20 handballs) and made three marks during Saturday's 102-45 loss to Brisbane.
ANALYSIS
Merrett continues to command a high cost, but he's done well to warrant it by keeping his production above 100 fantasy points in every round. For a Bombers team that plays at its best in every other week, Merrett should still be reliable as he's recorded no less than 27 disposals in a single game this weekend.
Fourth-straight 100-point outing
MEssendon Bombers
April 9, 2021
Merrett combined for 27 disposals, nine tackles, three clearances and two marks Thursday as Essendon fell to Sydney 83-80 at MCG.
ANALYSIS
Merrett closed out Thursday's contest chasing only teammate Will Snelling for a game-high in tackles and Jordan Ridley for most disposals by an Essendon player. He also recorded the Bombers' third-highest handball total (11) in the defeat. Those numbers ultimately landed Merrett his fourth 100+ point fantasy performance in as many weeks and leaves him currently ranked amongst the top five midfielders in the league with a fantasy score per game average of 112.2.
Career-high three GAs in win
MEssendon Bombers
April 3, 2021
Merrett carried off 34 disposals, seven marks, four tackles and clearances each and three goal assists Saturday as Essendon knocked off St. Kilda 143-68 at Marvel Stadium.
ANALYSIS
Merrett eclipsed double-digit kicks and handballs for a third-consecutive week on Saturday to finish with his best disposal total of the year. The 25 year-old also recorded his eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh tackle of 2021 and posted a personal-best for goal assists in the victory. The Essendon midfielder now finds himself ranked in the top five in the AFL for total disposals, uncontested disposals, effective disposals, disposals per game, uncontested possessions per game and total goal assists. More important, however, is Merrett's #5 ranking in total AFL fantasy score for the year with 334 points.
28 disposals, goal assist v. PA
MEssendon Bombers
March 31, 2021
Merrett compiled 28 disposals, six marks, four tackles, three clearances and a goal assist Saturday as Essendon fell to Port Adelaide 119-65 at Adelaide Oval.
ANALYSIS
Saturday's contest was an absolute disaster for Essendon, with the Bombers not only suffering a 54-point loss to Port Adelaide, but too losing the trio of Dylan Shiel, Jye Caldwell and Sam Draper to injury for at least the next six weeks. One of the few - if only - bright spots from the contest? A strong showing by Merrett, who ended the match with a team-high 15 handballs and tied with Ned Cahill and Will Snelling for most goal assists by a Bomber. The midfielder heads into Round Three averaging well over 100 fantasy points an appearance in 2021 and currently ranked 18th in the AFL for total fantasy points (213).
