May 22, 2021
Butters underwent successful surgery to release pressure on the nerve injury around his left knee, Loukas Founten of Port Adelaide FC's official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Butters had surgery in April for an ankle syndesmosis rupture and had just progressed back to running earlier this month. He ended up discovering there was also nerve damage in his left knee from the same incident and that surgery was the best call to ensure a full recovery. The team stated that a timeframe for Butters' return to the field will be determined in the coming weeks.

Out for month
FPort Adelaide Power
Ankle
April 13, 2021
Butters is set to miss the next month after undergoing surgery for an ankle syndesmosis injury, his club announced Monday.
ANALYSIS
Butters has had a solid if inconsistent start to the season but will now be out until May at the earliest. He's recorded 19-or-less disposals on three occasions while amassing 36 in Round 2, so his production isn't the most reliable option from the Power when healthy.

April 9, 2021
Butters left Friday's match versus the Tigers with a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Butters did plenty of damage prior to his departure,, racking up a goal, 19 disposals -- eight kicks and 11 handballs -- five tackles and three marks. He's becoming one of Port's better players and will look to continue that trend when he's clear of the knee issue.
36 disposals, one goal v. Essendon
FPort Adelaide Power
March 27, 2021
Butters tallied 36 disposals, six tackles, three marks and a goal as Port Adelaide downed Essendon 119-65 on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
Butters helped Port Adelaide get off to a strong start against Essendon, pairing up with teammate Charlie Dixon to account for two Power goals in the first three minutes of Friday's match. Going on to post career-best in in disposals, handballs (24) and tackles in the contest, alongside a game-high six tackles, the elder forward finished topping all players in fantasy points (119) and exiting Round Two averaging an impressive 99.0 points an outing in 2021.
Suspension over
FPort Adelaide Power
September 29, 2020
Butters has served his two-match ban for a high bump against the Kangaroos.
ANALYSIS
Butters should be clear to rejoin the action for the Power's first finals match Thursday versus Geelong. He's seen his play trail off down the stretch, but Butters has some upside, reaching 20-plus disposals three times and reaching six marks on three occasions as well. He didn't fare particularly well the last time these two squads went at it, going without a goal and tallying just 12 disposals.
Banned for two matches
FPort Adelaide Power
Suspension
September 11, 2020
Butters has been handed a two-match ban for a high bump during the team's last contest versus the Kangaroos, Loukas Founten of the Power's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Butters performed well in the contest but was clearly a candidate for the ban following a bump on Jy Simpkin. The length of the ban will allow him to be available for the first round of the finals.
