Smith scored a third of his total goals from last season in the first match of the new one during a strong all-around showing. While his stats may regress somewhat, the midfield strength for the Bulldogs could make it hard to pin any one player down and give Smith plenty of opportunities to shine.

The Bulldogs are now languishing at the bottom of the ladder and will need to turn things around if they are to make a push for this year's premiership.
