Bennell (calf) was confirmed among the selections for Saturday's Round 2 game against the Carleton Blues, Callum Twomey of AFL.com reports.
Bennell battled serious calf injuries over the past four years and appeared in only two games during his time with Fremantle. The 27-year-old appeared in 15 games with Gold Coast during the 2015 season and totaled 11 goals, 55 tackles, 55 marks, and 225 kicks. It's unclear if he will be limited in his first game back, but the fact that he's an interchange may suggest that's the case.

Teammate Christian Salem indicated Thursday that Bennell (calf) should be in a position for selection in Round 2 versus Carlton, AFL Nation reports.
Bennell has not appeared in a contest since the 2017 season due to lingering injury problems, but the 27-year-old midfielder appears to finally be in a form that will allow his return to action. In his last full season with Gold Coast, Bennell averaged 15 kicks, 8.4 handballs and 3.7 marks per game.
