Dealing with more injuries

Back
July 4, 2020
Cunnington suffered "knocks" to his groin and back during Saturday's match with Western Bulldogs, according to coach Rhyce Shaw. "(Cunnington) was in doubt all week, as we stated early in the week, and he got up and we were confident and I made a decision to play him, so that's where it sits. It possibly was the wrong call but we were really confident, to be honest, on all the evidence we were given ... I was really confident with the way he was going and he warmed up really well, so it's just what it is."
ANALYSIS
Cunnington just returned from a back injury, and will now have to go through more rehab during the week after possibly returning too soon. When healthy, Cunnington has a big role to play, but the sensitive nature of his injuries could take time to allow a full recovery ahead of the next Round against Essendon.

July 2, 2020
Cunnington (back) has been selected for Saturday's showdown versus Western.
ANALYSIS
Cunnington was named prior to last week's game as well but ultimately missed the contest due to the nagging back problem. With another week of recovery under the belt, it seems likely Cunnington will actually give it a go this time around. Playing in the center of the Roos' midfield, he will likely be counted on to handle the ball frequently, as evidenced by his 20-plus disposals in each of his two appearances this season.

June 25, 2020
Cunnington (back) has been named for Sunday's match versus the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Cunnington was a late scratch for last Saturday's contest against the Swans due to some back issues, but he'll avoid missing additional time. He's slotted in as a center alongside Trent Dumont and Jared Polec and already has two contests with more than 20 disposals under his belt this season.
