$Originally agreed to a five-year, $51 million deal in December 2000, but that contract was terminated by the Rockies in December 2004 on a morals clause violation. Signed a minor league contract with Tampa Bay, Feb. 2005. Released by Tampa Bay in Mar. 2005. Neagle and the Rockies reached a settlement on his contract in May of 2005 and their attempt to get out of it Neagle will reportedly get approximately $16 million of the $19.5 million he was owed for 2005, and the Rockies will get out of the buyout for their option for 2006 plus interest.

Neagle had his contract voided due to a solicitation citation this offseason and has had non-stop arm problems for the past two years. Once a 20-game winner, he looks to be washed up at 36, but the same could have been said about Pat Hentgen, who came back from Tommy John surgery in 2001 to revive his career with Baltimore in 2003. Neagle says he will be back by midseason, but don't count on it.
Neagle took the hill only seven times last season before hitting the DL and eventually undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery. He has two years left on a big contract and only seems to pitch when the money is on the line or when he wants out of an organization. It's no secret that both he and the Rockies want him elsewhere, and both sides are hoping the elbow's well enough for him to do just that. If long odds and spotty samplings of history are your game, draft Neagle. But as long as he's in Colorado, we'll never recommend it.
Neagle wants out of Colorado, and the Rockies would love to accomodate him. Neagle usually builds up high pitch counts, which keeps him from getting a lot of innings. Until Neagle gets a change of scenery, he'll remain a roto non-factor.
