Ali Sanchez News: Booted from 40-man
The Red Sox designated Sanchez for assignment Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Sanchez will cede his spot on the 28-man active roster to outfielder Wilyer Abreu, who was activated from the 10-day injured list. The 28-year-old Sanchez -- who is still searching for his first big-league home run -- has a .183/.220/.233 career slash line in 133 MLB plate appearances dating back to 2020.
